Back in 1910, the original 9 holes of Faribault Golf & Country Club were first designed, constructed and opened for play. The facility has been a staple of the community ever since. Then, in 1956, Interlachen golf professional Willie Kidd designed the new nine-hole course at its present location. In 1966, Bob Carlson of Austin designed the back nine holes. Faribault Golf & Country Club was instrumental in the founding and establishment of the Minnesota Golf Association along with the Winona Country Club, Town and Country, the Minikahda Club, Rochester Golf & Country Club, Bryn Mawr and Merion Park. Since 1970, Faribault has also hosted the annual Minnesota PGA Pro-Am Tournament. The club hosted the 1970 Minnesota State Open, as well as the local qualifying for the 1984 United States Golf Association Open and the 1991 MGA Mid-Amateur.
